Program formatting: In-person training

OC MADE is a program presented by the CSUF SBDC in partnership with the Original OC Swap Meet, aimed at assisting start-up businesses with entering the marketplace to validate their concepts. Participants will learn core concepts to create a successful business. Over a 4-week period, participants will learn about planning, marketing, financing, and how to make their business dreams a reality. This quick-paced program will accelerate your concept in just a few short weeks and give you the ability to operate an Original OC Swap Meet vendor booth.

How to Apply:

Register through Eventbrite and answer the preliminary questions on the registration and one of our SBDC consultants will reach out to conduct a brief interview with you. From there, 25 people will be selected for this program based on an interview process. There is no cost to participate in the program, so register today!

The Program:

WEEK 1 | Saturday, August 07, 2021 I 9 AM – 11 AM

• Developing your product for the MarketPlace
• Building your idea into a business
• Marketplace requirements
• Licenses and permits to operate at the MarketPlace

WEEK 2 | Saturday, August 14, 2021 I 9 AM – 11 AM

Location: SBDC Digital Marketing Lab – 1300 S Bristol St, Santa Ana, CA 92704

• Sourcing, costing and pricing your products
• Financial projections
• Accepting payment at the MarketPlace

WEEK 3 | Saturday, August 21, 2021 I 9 AM – 11 AM

Location: OC Fairgrounds – 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

• Developing your marketing plan
• Understanding social media and how to attract customers/repeat customers
• Finance and funding
• Presentation from an OC Made vendor
• Your canopy and space

WEEK 4 | Saturday, August 28, 2021 I 9 AM – 11 AM

Location: OC Fairgrounds – 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

• Setting up your Marketplace booth
• Signage and promotion
• OC Market forms, policies, and procedures
• Graduation/certificate ceremony

• Marketplace vendor booth – a perfect opportunity to showcase your business!
