Riverside County MADE is a quick-paced six-week program that assists start-up businesses with entering the marketplace to validate their concept. Participants will learn core concepts to create a successful business, including planning, marketing, and financing.

  • Business plan and financial projections (introduction)

Week 2 — Thursday, Sept. 21

  • Identifying and researching competition

Week 3 — Thursday, Sept. 28

  • Financial management
  • Account and accounting systems
  • Sourcing, costing, and pricing your products
  • Accepting payment
  • Business liability insurance
  • Business bank account and accounting methods

Week 4 — Thursday, Oct. 5

  • Financial literacy by AmPac
  • Access to capital

Week 5 — Thursday, Oct. 12

  • Developing your marketing plan
  • Advertising
  • Digital marketing
  • Understanding social media and how to attract customers/repeat customers
  • Your canopy and space
  • Meeting the canopy vendor
  • Return policy — customer satisfaction
  • Revisiting grant requirements

Week 6 — Thursday, Oct. 19

  • Financial projections
  • Event preparation and needs
  • Signage and promotion
  • Further steps
