SBDC Eats: CFO and MHKO Startup Series

Are you interested in starting your own Cottage Food Operation (CFO) or Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MHKO) and unsure of where to begin? As part of the Orange County Inland Empire SBDC EATS Program, we will be hosting a FREE startup series to teach you how!

In just six weeks, you will gain the information and skills to start your very own food business. 

Classes will be held every Thursday, May 5-Thursday, June 9 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. See schedule below: 

Class One | Thursday, May 5 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM 

  • Introduction to Entrepreneurship 
  • Starting and Owning a Business
  • Products and Meals 
  • Market Research 
  • Permits 

Class Two | Thursday, May 12 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM 

  • Business Structures
  • Fictitious Business Name (FBN) 
  • Business Licenses 
  • Licensing and Permits 

Class Three | Thursday, May 19 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

  1. Recipe Conversions
  2. Master Inventory List
  3. Products 

Class Four | Thursday, May 26 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM 

  • Cottage Food Operation Labels 
  • Food Handlers Card 
  • Managers Certification 

Class Five | Thursday, June 2 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM 

  1. Digital Marketing
  2. Advertising
  3. Analytics 

Class Six | Thursday, June 9 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM 

  • Financial Management and Accounting 
  • Financial Projections 
  • Access to Capital
  • Financial Literacy 

You will also have the opportunity to schedule a virtual, one-on-one, consultation with our Food/Restaurant consultant to discuss information tailored to your own business. You will be required to attend all six courses.
