Is Your Manufacturing Company Ready to Expand Globally?

Did you know that 81% of total goods exports are manufactured goods, that 97% of all identified U.S. exporting firms of goods are small businesses, and that 59% of all identified exporters have reported exporting to only one country? If you are a business looking to expand to new markets around the world in 2023, this series is for you.

Join the SBDC Global Trade Center for this four-part series to learn how to collect and interpret data, develop an effective international sales strategy, establish a global supply chain, and more! We’ll also provide you with the resources required to expand into new markets! This program is being presented in partnership with the SBA, AMPAC, and U.S. Commercial Services Inland Empire. All participants will be aligned with an SBDC consultant to receive no-cost 1:1 customized assistance during the program.

This program is geared towards assisting Riverside County-based manufacturers with their global expansion strategy. At the completion of the program, eligible participants may apply for a County of Riverside grant of $5000.


Week 1: Wednesday, July 5 | Noon – 2 p.m. — Preparing for Global Expansion

  • Determining what is needed to ensure product readiness for specific markets
  • Steps to prepare your firm expand to international markets
  • Securing your supply chain

Week 2: Wednesday, July 12 | Noon – 2 p.m. — Finding New Export Markets

  • Collecting data on new markets
  • Assessing the viability for your product in new markets
  • Selecting the best market for continued global expansion
  • Primary research through travel, trade shows and missions, industry networking events, etc.

Week 3: Wednesday, July 19 | Noon – 2 p.m. — Positioning for Global Growth

  • Developing a tailored pricing strategy for exports
  • Costs to consider
  • Getting paid
  • Cash flow and forecasting
  • Funding options/financial resources

Week 4: Wednesday, July 26 | Noon – 2 p.m. — Qualifying Buyers and Delivering Product to Market

  • Identifying and qualifying buyers
  • Working with agents, importers, and distributors
  • Preparing product for export
  • Delivering product to market
  • Mitigating risk
