Series Overview:

Part 1: Business 201 (Wednesday, May 28)

  • This session focuses on helping both new and existing business owners refine and strengthen their business plans. Participants will learn how to ensure that their business plan is not only viable in the short term but also sustainable and adaptable to long-term market changes. Emphasis will be placed on strategic planning, risk management, and growth strategies.

Part 2: Understanding & Building Credit (Wednesday, June 4)

  • Personal credit is often closely tied to business success. In this week, business owners will gain a deep understanding of how their personal credit impacts their business. The session will cover the fundamentals of credit building and management, strategies to improve credit scores, and the importance of maintaining good credit for business funding and expansion.

Part 3: Navigating Cash Flow (Wednesday, June 11)

  • Cash flow management is crucial to driving profitability and ensuring business stability. This week’s module will guide participants through best practices for managing cash flow, including forecasting, budgeting, and identifying cash flow gaps. The goal is to equip business owners with the tools they need to maintain healthy cash flow and avoid common financial pitfalls.

Part 4: Digital Marketing (Wednesday, June 18)

  • In today’s digital age, an effective online presence is essential. This week will focus on digital marketing strategies to help business owners market their businesses effectively through social media and other digital channels. Topics will include creating engaging content, understanding analytics, and leveraging digital tools to reach and retain customers.

Elevate Your Business: Four-Part Series

Mike Daniel is the network director of the Orange County Inland Empire SBDC Network, which assists aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners throughout Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Mike was formerly the director of the SBDC office at Long Beach City College. As business owner and entrepreneur himself, he started his career as the owner of a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory location in Manhattan Beach and went on to open a second location in Long Beach in 2001. In 2007, Mike sold the Manhattan Beach store for an above-market offer then invested in several additional locations as a minority shareholder. Mike further expanded his candy empire with venture located in Shoreline Village in Long Beach called Sugar Daddies Sweet Shoppe, based on fill-it yourself candy options.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.
