Small businesses throughout Orange County are in need of building a digital presence and driving new sales to their business. The Creating a Digital Presence program will teach small business owners how to set-up an online profile through Google, how to reach out to customers for a Google review, and how to create social media posts. The program will then change to highlight how to use paid and non-paid advertising to generate leads that turn into sales. The program will culminate with business owners receiving a small grant to put towards advertising that will generate customer traffic.

  • Maximize Google to improve your presence online
  • Tap into the power of google analytics to leverage information and increase web traffic
  • Build compelling content to improve your followers through social media
  • Overview of paid online advertising and helping you choose the right channel for your business
 
The program will then change to highlight how to use paid and non-paid advertising to generate leads that turn into sales. The program will culminate with business owners receiving a $500 grant to put towards advertising that will generate customer traffic.
 
  • Fostering Small Business Growth for Businesses in Garden Grove.
  • Bringing 21st-century digital marketing to brick and mortar businesses.
  • A 7-week program with the SBDC teaching all aspects of digital marketing to business owners to drive revenue which includes a weekly webinar and one on one consulting sessions.
  • A $500 per business grant program from the city for paid online advertising upon completion of the 7 weeks with an SBDC consultant consulting and implementing the advertising campaign with the business owner.
  • Designed to have an impact as the holiday’s approach.
  • Limited to 20 business owners.
 

Application Period

Online applications will be accepted from Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 9:00 AM to Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Paper applications will not be accepted, but applicants needing assistance can contact the SBDC for telephone support at 1-800-616-7232. Applications received after this due date and time will be considered late and will not be accepted.

The 7-week program will start on Tuesday, October 19th.

To be eligible to apply for the Garden Grove Digital Marketing Grant, a business must meet certain criteria that has been established by the City of Garden Grove.

General Terms and Conditions

  • Be a commercially zoned brick and mortar business.
  • Be in operation for a minimum of 1-year (9/01/2020).
  • Have the ability to attend all seven sessions and meet with SBDC consultant.
  • Complete short survey 3/6/9/12 months after the program.
  • Be located in the city of Garden Grove.
  • Have a current/active business license, proper insurance, and all applicable required permits.
  • Have no code violations in the last twelve (12) months.
  • Have the ability to utilize grant for paid advertising within a 1-month period.
  • Businesses can not be doing more than $1,000,000 a year based on last 2019’s sales.

Garden Grove

Mike Daniel is the network director of the Orange County Inland Empire SBDC Network, which assists aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners throughout Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Mike was formerly the director of the SBDC office at Long Beach City College. As business owner and entrepreneur himself, he started his career as the owner of a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory location in Manhattan Beach and went on to open a second location in Long Beach in 2001. In 2007, Mike sold the Manhattan Beach store for an above-market offer then invested in several additional locations as a minority shareholder. Mike further expanded his candy empire with venture located in Shoreline Village in Long Beach called Sugar Daddies Sweet Shoppe, based on fill-it yourself candy options.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.
