Mama Roscoe’s Grows Family of Customers

By Aleesia Benkey

Dwayne Roscoe’s family owned a pizza chain in the 1980s and wanted to bring the business back to life. His mother was an inspiration to him, and she always made her special pizza sauce that he loved dearly. After his mother passed, Dwyane wanted to create Mama Roscoe’s Pizzeria to honor her life and her remarkable recipe, but he needed help getting started.

“I needed answers and advice from a consultant who knows the restaurant business. I was starting from scratch, so I needed advice on every aspect of the business,” said Dwayne.

A friend referred Dwayne to the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center Network (OCIE SBDC) and met with SBDC Business Consultant Karie Armstrong.

Karie helped Dwyane from the ground up, working through projections, pricing, funding, lease agreements, hiring, and cash flow analysis. From ideation to grand opening, Karie supported Dwayne through all of his business needs.

“Working with Dwyane has been so much fun. I want to congratulate him on a job well done, and I can’t wait to help him open his second, third, and more restaurants to come,” said Karie.

Mama Roscoe’s Pizzeria held a grand opening event on March 1, with a great turnout of friends, family, community members, and elected officials.

Manal Richa, center director for the California State University, Fullerton SBDC, recognized Dwayne as an outstanding client and is happy he came to the OCIE SBDC for help. “This is not the end of Dwyane’s journey with the SBDC; this is only the beginning. I’m so glad we can support him as he continues to grow his business,” said Manal.

Business is booming for Mama Roscoe’s Pizzeria in Anaheim. Located at 444 N. Lakeview Avenue, Mama Roscoe’s opens daily at 11 a.m.
