VISA selects Orange County SBDC client Robbins Nest Wine Bar and Bistro as winner of National competition!

In late December 2014, Orange County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) long-term client, Robbins Nest Wine Bar and Bistro  was announced as the winner of a national competition sponsored by VISA.  As a result, in 2015, they will be featured in professionally-produced success video fully paid for by VISA.

While we are very proud of founder, Vincent Canino and general manager, Lisa Robbins for their success in launching Robbins Nest Wine Bar and Bistro in the heart of Santa Ana, we are doubly delighted that their vision and tenacity has won them the VISA competition and opportunity for national recognition.

The national competition was open to Small Business Development Center clients from 10 states including California.  Robbins Nest success story was submitted for the national competition by the Orange County/Inland Empire Regional SBDC Network.

VISA’s selection criterion was based on:

o   Being an SBDC client

o   Having significant economic impact in their community

o   Having achieved  great success (with visual appeal) through the assistance of their SBDC

Additional consideration was given to nominees who use electronic payments to build the business.

As to the contribution of Orange County SBDC in their success, Vincent Canino says it best – “Even if you are an experienced business leader, as I’ve been, the best action I ever took was reaching out to SBDC.  The experience and talent in this organization helped me uncover potential pitfalls throughout the entire process from building a business plan to securing capital to project execution.  Never be too proud nor think you are too smart.  SBDC will be your other set of eyes and ears that will increase your ability to be successful in your business venture.”
