Intrepid Escape Rooms Grand Opening

What Happened:

The Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (OCIE SBDC) was pleased to support Intrepid Escape Rooms in its official grand opening celebration that took place on May 5. Intrepid Escape Rooms is located in Tustin and offers real-world immersive puzzle adventure games for folks of all ages.

Intrepid’s official launch kicked off with laudatory presentations from several local officials, followed by a ribbon-cutting celebration. During the open house, guests had the opportunity to tour the elaborately vivid escape room facilities and take part in puzzling teaser games. Upon first glance, viewers will notice highly detailed layouts within each room, all contributing to their respective themes. To build a more immersive narrative, staff members, also known as Intrepid adventure guides, were equipped with safari-style uniforms and eager to help immerse groups in the adventure of their choice.

OCIE SBDC’s Role

Jonathan Dautrich, Intrepid Escape Rooms founder, realized he needed expert guidance prior to launching his business. He decided to reach out to the SBDC network and was matched with and received hands-on assistance from OCIE SBDC consultant, Karie Armstrong.
Armstrong described working with Dautrich: “Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. It takes grit and determination with a clear target. Jonathan has those characteristics and wasn’t afraid to ask the hard questions and do the hard tasks. I really enjoyed the journey with him, and I’m glad that, as an SBDC consultant, I could walk alongside him to flatten the learning curve and bring solutions to light.”

One-on-one consulting is a highly effective approach for small businesses. Small businesses tend to face unique challenges and hurdles that must be overcome to remain competitive. Consultants provide specialized knowledge, personalized guidance, and solutions pertaining directly to each situation their client faces, giving them valuable perspectives that can be leveraged to strengthen their business. Providing small businesses with the most relevant consultant matches allows both businesses and consultants to maximize the quality of their exchanges and hit the ground running with solutions for success.

More about Intrepid Escape Rooms

Intrepid Escape Rooms offers immersive puzzle adventure games for teams of 2-8. Guests are transported to one of several destinations, including an abandoned New York subway terminal and a Malaysian study of an anthropologist who stole a priceless relic. It’s up to each Intrepid Adventurer team to decode ciphers, find clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes in order to save the day before time runs out! Whether you’re looking for a team-building opportunity, a birthday party, or a private event, the blend of theatrical storytelling and collaborative puzzle-solving makes Intrepid a leading contender in the escape room arena.

Founder Dautrich is excited about his future with Intrepid Escape Rooms: “I’m looking forward to making Intrepid a fun creative outlet, both for me and my staff. I’d love for Intrepid to be a financial success, but I also want my team to enjoy the process of getting us there. We’re starting designs for our third escape room at our Tustin location, with plans for a fourth and maybe even a fifth down the road!”

With ambitious plans, the team at Intrepid is excited to see what the future holds. We at OCIE SBDC are excited, too, and look forward to seeing their continued growth and success.

If you’ve never had a chance to try out an escape room, now is your chance. Grab your family, friends, or colleagues, and head to Tustin to see if your team can solve its mystery!
